Custom Lapidary for Two Found Stone Rings

“Can I bring my own stone to a jeweler?” At Caitlin Albritton Jewelry, absolutely yes!

As a rockhound myself, I love when clients come to me asking if I can make custom jewelry from their found stones.

My client and his girlfriend had found and tumbled a variety of stones and wanted to see if I could cut the stone and set it into a ring design for his girlfriend to wear.

Out of the handful of stones he sent, I did custom lapidary cutting for three of them (in the picture, I cut the top right two and the orange speckled one at the bottom) so he had a bit of option for the ring. He and his girlfriend loved so many, that they ended up deciding to go with two rings instead of one!

From there, I was able to do some drawings for the design of the ring, based off of 4 inspiration images they had sent me.

(Pictured is one of the sketches I did for the ring so that my client would have an idea of what the ring would look like).

After my client approved the designs, I was able to get started on the silversmithing for the rings. Both rings feature a split ring shank with added details with either sterling silver balls or sun rays.

And within two weeks, my client’s rings were finished, and they can carry around memories of their time spent together of rockhounding adventures.
