Native American Inlay Ring Repair
This client recently came in with a Native American ring that was missing a piece of black onyx in the top right corner. He wears this ring all the time, and is a very special piece to him.
Upon further inspection, I found out that the original jeweler had put 4 stacks of card paper to prop up the stones in the tall bezel.
When I told the client that the best thing to do would be to remove all of the stones to ensure that no more would fall out, he was on board with doing it the right way!
I recut the new stone, removed all of the stones, put in a new long-lasting spacer, and then secured all of the stones back in place. He decided not to have the sterling silver polished to let the story of the ring shine through in this incredible mosaic inlay.
