Zuni Turquoise Earring Inlay Repair

Here is the turquoise earring my client sent me that is missing one inlaid stone.

If you’ve seen my other inlay jewelry repairs, you know that I have completed a lot of really complex stone inlays, but not all of my repairs are like that!

Case in point: this Zuni turquoise earring where one of the stones fell out.

The hardest part about an inlay repair like this is matching the turquoise well, but I happened to have a piece of Kingman turquoise that matched the existing pieces of turquoise very well that it would be an unnoticeable repair.

I carefully cut the piece of turquoise before re-setting it into the inlay channel.

(Pictured is an in-progress shot of the inlay earring repair. You can see the stone sticking out from the surface at this stage but it will soon be fixed up.)

Afterwards, I can cut and polish the surface flush with the other stones before the inlay earring repair is complete.
